Clumping, Tofu or Silica? Choosing Cat Litter

The pros and cons of each litter type for homes in Nepal.
Clumping bentonite
Forms firm clumps that are easy to scoop and controls smell well. It is heavy and can be dusty, so pour slowly.
Tofu litter
Made from plant fibre. Light, low dust and gentle on paws. It costs more per bag but lasts well.
Silica crystals
Absorbs moisture for weeks with very little smell. Some cats dislike the texture.
Tips
- Fill 5 to 7 cm deep.
- Change litter type gradually by mixing old and new.
- Do not flush clumping clay litter, as it blocks drains.
